The company background and its aims
Coventry Aquatics was established on March 1st 2001 and is still going from strength to strength on a daily basis. Coventry Aquatics & Pet Supplies (the original name) was the inspiration of Robin and Lisa Hopkins, both enthusiastic fish-keepers for many years who became quite simply fed-up with having to travel out of Coventry for even just the every-day brand name products associated with the hobby. But when it came to quality of fish, advice or something a little different, then a much further journey became a necessity, and so Coventry Aquatics & Pet Supplies was born. Robin worked in the store on his own at first 5 days a week whilst Lisa carried on at work elsewhere but joined him at weekends whilst the new business felt its feet.On the 2 days the retail store was closed Robin would work on ponds and install aquariums building up a maintenance division for the businesses future.After 12 months Lisa joined Robin in the store full-time 5 days a week and then they both worked installing and servicing aquariums and cleaning ponds both working a 7 day week to build the business and give them the revenue to invest back into it and grow it to meet the demands of the growing customer base.After 12 months a new shop premises became available just around the corner on the main frontage of Winsford Avenue in Allesley and it was at that point the business changed its name and became simply Coventry Aquatics.After 4 years at the new premises and still no holiday to talk about for now over 5 years whilst still building their business, a new premises became available at Daventry Road in Stivichall and the expansion both Robin & Lisa craved became a reality.This new premises would allow them to employ staff and become more structured investing in Marine fish & Corals, a larger selection of Tropical & Coldwater fish and also Reptiles, not to mention the 1000's of extra products associated with all those divisions.Quality not quantity is the view that Robin & Lisa take with all the products they sell and promote. Robin likes to try almost everything out that they have in store so he can fully endorse the product and sell it and match it correctly to his customers. The whole shop runs from products off the shelves so the customer can see their potential purchase working and gain confidence in the knowledge they are buying exactly what they need. Theirs no room for gimics or oversized filtration systems and as such they run everything no different to how any customer would be running their system in their home.
Working close with local landscapers and with the years of installing ponds and aquariums himself, his knowledge of the potential problems and pitfalls that can happen is priceless and thus his customers benefit and save money and time from his experience and product knowledge.Robin says "There are a lot of cheap and nasty products out there and it amazes me that people risk using them in their aquariums or ponds risking all the quality of their livestock, it's simply a false economy and you always get what you pay for". Buy cheap, buy twice. If its cheap its cheap for a reason! Be careful out their!

Our Mission Statement "NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE" Robin & Lisa know too well from over the years of travelling to aquatics shops all over the country that the best business is repeat business. In other words it's not the first sale that is important from a new or prospective customer but the second, third and fourth, so they treat all their customers how they would expect to be treated themselves. It is with this attitude that Coventry Aquatics has built its foundations with good old fashioned customer service. No private investments, loans or hand outs, they have worked tirelessly to achieve their current position in being the leading aquatic store in Coventry and the surrounding area's. Robin, Lisa, Wayne, Johnathon, Tony & Tom's enthusiasm is there to see and is more than evident in the manner and cleanliness in which they display their store and especially their fish & reptiles. They are all serious hobbyists with the opportunity to have their hobby as their livelihood and it is with that pride and passion that the name and service of Coventry Aquatics is growing ever stronger.
